Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, released on 12 july 2013, was declared a box
office success. The film is a hit in the multiplexes across India and
especially in Punjab and Delhi. It collected 0.85 crore on the very first day. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag showed 20% growth on
the second day and earned 10.50 crores in its kitty on the second day. It
grossed 32.25 crores nett on its first weekend.
The film based on the life of Olympian athlete Milkha Singh is in the praisworthy
words of critics. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Meesha Shafi of
Pakistani Coke Studio fame. The lead actor of the film, Farhan Akhtar is being
praised by all his co-workers especially his Shadi Ke Side Effects co-star Vidya Balan Kapoor and YJNMD co-star
Hrithik Roshan. Sources say that Sonam Kapoor charged only 11 rupees as the
charge for the film. According to the director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,
"BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG is not a sports film, but a film about human
spirit".
